My biggest accomplishment was being able to make the scenes in Flash. My biggest struggle was the time limit we had to make the game. I liked drawing scenes in flash the most. The least thing I liked about this class was blogging. I would tell up-coming students that they need to listen carefully to what the teacher says at all times. I liked talking about the game the most.

Practice Presentation

Next week, we will be doing our practice presentation. During our presentation, we will be explaining how our game works and the different things in our game skeleton. We will also explain each game scene in our game skeleton. Our team members will explain and read things about our game. We will also demonstrate how to play the game to the class. Our biggest concern at this point, is getting all the action scripts finished and being able to finish our game in time.

5/7/10

One of our struggles are whenever our car reaches the flag pole, we need it to change to another scene. We are trying to find out how to do it. We have accomplished all of our goals this week. Next week, our plans are to find out how to change one scene to another. There are probably more plans for next week but we have not discussed any of them yet. We will be able to have our team page completed, as well as our presentation by the end of next week. I feel that all of our teammates are contributing a lot better than last week. We all try to find the same thing at once so we can find certain things faster. We have all been accomplishing more than the past weeks. I also feel that our game presentation will work out very good.

Accomplishments

So far this week, I have made two new scenes in Flash. I also put it in our game skeleton. The rest of this week, we plan on finishing the game skeleton and our scenes. We also need to get sound, and action scripts. We should be able to get most of it done. Lately, we have been making a lot of progress.

Friday 4-30-10 Blog

One of the goals I had written on my blog Thursday was, getting the game skeleton finished. We have made a lot of progress working on it. We are almost done with it. We drew more scenes in flash to upload to the game skeleton. The only thing we need to do to finish up the skeleton, is add the actionscripts. We should have it finished very soon. Our team members are all trying to contribute in a way. Personally, I think I should try to join in on a couple more things and take part in certain things. I will try as hard as I can to start doing this.

Assembling Our Game

In the past two days, we have been continuing on our paper prototype papers and our game skeleton. Yesterday, we finished putting in the last page of our paper prototype onto our team page. To finish up our game skeleton, we have been adding our prototype to it. Personally, Stephen and I have worked on the layout sheet and also tried to think of more ideas to put on our skeleton and prototype page. It wasn't to hard to do. For the rest of the week, our plans are to add the rest of the prototype to our skeleton.

Drawing in Flash

Drawing in Flash is very cool. I just started drawing my pictures and Scenes In Flash. Some of the pictures and scenes can be very easy to draw, while others can be very difficult. I have learned a lot about Flash and how to do different sorts of things in it. I have a feeling I will learn even more as I keep using it. I also think I will have a great learning experience when using Flash! The subject of our game is going to be 2 cars racing, while they answer questions as the race goes on. The first one to the finish line will be the winner. There is not much more that we have learned about our game since I have last wrote about it. Yet, some kids have been blogging on our previous blogs explaining that they think our game will be very fun. The also say that they can not wait to play it. Everything has been positive about our game. I could not agree more with any of their posts. I have to say, that I can't wait to play it either. I think it will turn out to be very good.

Playing Your Game

My role is the artist. I know I am good at this job because I am creative and I always draw or do something with art. I think i'm a good person for this job. We did not have any disagreements about our jobs or anything else. If we did, we would be able to solve it very easily. The one thing I can wait for is to finally test our game and see how it works. I think it will be very fun. Stephen had a great idea about how the game will work. He had a good inspiration and game idea and we all agreed and decided on that game.

Paper Prototype Reflection

Today, we worked on paper prototyping and then we recorded our video. It only took us one time to video it and it didn't take that long. It was pretty easy to do. We talked about our team name and we explained how our game was going to work. Steven video taped our paper prototype and Stephen explained everything. In the end, everything worked out well and I think it is going to turn out and be very good.

Team Expectations

The rest of my team and I have been discussing our expectations the past 2 days. We thought of an amazing name. We all decided on the team name, "The Doors". I think Stephen R. had the best ideas. He came up of the idea of how our game is going to work. The game will be a 2 player game. We are going to have 2 cars racing to the same spot. Then, during the race, the cars will have to stop in random places. The racers will have to answer a question each time they stop. They will have to stop several times during the race. As soon as your done answering the correct answer, the car will take off again to its destination. The first car to pass the finishline will be the winner. The whole team agreed and felt confident about how the game is going to work. Stephen R. will be the one who finds the resources. Nick will be the manager. Steven F. will be the sound producer. And I (Ryan) will be the artist. The whole group mostly feels good with using Flash player. I feel that our group will do very good with the game we're making.

Game Idea Reflection

I thought about some ideas for my game yesterday in class. I explained and told you how to play my game in the flash player. After I explained and wrote about how it is going to work, I uploaded it to my projects on my wiki. I hope my game lets people understand more about the Order of Operations. I'm really excited to start up my game and play it.

Mini-Game Project

In the past two days we have been doing our mini-game project. It has been pretty fun and easy. Our teachers help us out a lot and that is why it is easy. I think it will turn out to be very fun and cool. One easy part is how we can copy and paste certain things. That makes it a lot easier than having to type things in. There has not been very many parts that are complicated, but, one thing that was somewhat complicated, is adding new layers. It was not that hard, but that is one thing that I had a slight problem with. Other than that, everything is mostly easy. Some things that we've been doing is keyboard control, game loop control, score, and collision detection. I think the rest of the mini-game project will be fun, but also, I think it will become kind of difficult.

Introduction to Flash

The Flash Introduction shows and tells you how to use and work flash. I found out many facts and different things about flash. One of the things I found out was that the layers are one of the most important things. They are the scenes for your whole game. The layers do not seem very hard to create. You can even reveal, unlock, lock, and hide layers. But, most of everything else seems pretty hard to do.

Choosing Blogs to Follow

Today I found 3 blogs to follow. They are called, Let's Play Math, 7Th Grade Math, and Exemplary Resources for Middle School Math and Science. They are very helpful. I think these 3 blogs will help me in the future because they give me very helpful examples and hints. The pictures and descriptions are also very useful. I really think those 3 blogs are also very critical. Now, whenever I need help with any of this stuff, I can look back at these blogs for help.

Social Issue Review

Yesterday in class, I reviewed social issues. Some of these issues are poverty, environment, social networking, economy, and fundraising. One of the issues that got my attention was the economy. It got my attention because I care about our economy and I want the best for it. Also, fundraising caught my attention because you can raise money for the less fortunate people and for charities.

Game Review

One game I played was called, Darfur is Dying. I liked the objective to the game. It was very interesting and intense. I also liked how you could choose your character to play with. I didn't like how you were able to hide. I think that is cheating because they atomatically don't know where you are.


Another game I played was called, Slider Puzzle. I loved playing that game. I really like what your supposed to do in the game. I like the puzzle pictures that you have to make. But, I didn't like how it was so hard to do. It confused me at first, but then I got the hang of it.

Globaloria Week 2

I think that being able to add pictures and videos, are very cool. It also is very easy. I don't find it very hard or difficult. I would like it a lot better, if you could chose where you wanted to place the pictures on you wiki. Also, I really liked every one's videos. The backgrounds were also very colorful, but I think it would be very cool if you could have more than 1 color as your background. Other than that, I think everything else is very cool and easy.

Blog Review

Today, I was looking at different blogs and found one that was alright. I really liked the things he wrote on his blog. But what I didn't like was that he did not have any gadgets on it. Now, I know the things that I should include in my blog, just by looking and reviewing other people's.
